To register: Send œ10 (ten pounds) in UK Sterling (British money) to: Dave Henniker 199 Bruntsfield Place Edinburgh EH10 4DQ Scotland UK If you don't live in the United Kingdom (Britain) then please send: A Girobank cheque (Available at Post Offices in European countries) or A Eurocheque (You can buy a book in European banks) or An INTERNATIONAL money order / postal order (Available at Post Offices - MUST be payable in UK currency) or If you really have to, foreign money eg Guilders, Dollars, Marks. The first will contain a full working version of KOZMIC_4, registered in your name. The second disk will contain example pictures of what can be achieved with a little experimentation. The program will continue to be developed; you will probably get extra features in versions dated after August 1993. øùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùø If you write to enquire about updates, please let me know the 'date-stamp' of KOZMIC_4.PRG as shown in the desktop window. Also please enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope or IRC's (International Reply Coupons). KOZMIC_4.PRG (The main program) 3. KOZMIC_4.MBS (Memory Banks - screens, samples, sprites etc) 4. _K_12K_2.AVR (Compressed Stereo samples for 2 or 4 Meg STE's) 5. K4_TITLE.MBK (Compressed Title screen) øùúøùúøùú KOZMIC¿ úùøúùøúùø úúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúúú What you need to run the program: (a) Atari ST/STF/STFM/STE with 1 Megabyte of memory or more and a double-sided disk drive. (STE computers with more than 1 Megabyte will load and use the Stereo samples as well as the mono ones.) (b) A colour monitor (poor results with an ordinary TV) It should work OK on any version of TOS up to 1.62 (shown incorrectly as 1.98 by some utilities). It should also work on Mega ST's and Mega STE's but I cannot test this. It might even work on the TT but, for the moment, it's incompatible with the Falcon. øùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùøùø WHAT'S IT FOR? The purpose of the program is to create psychedelic patterns which can be saved to disk. No drawing skills are needed but experimentation is required to increase the range of effects. The Help options provide enough information to get started, and further on-line help is available from most of the menus. Some possible uses for the program: Be artistic without having to be an artist. Load pictures into a paint program and edit them. Use the screens as intro screens in your own programs (just add text). Run psychedelic slideshows at raves, parties etc. ííííííííééééééé ---------------------- éééééééíííííííí The techno-rock group TRANCEPORT have graphics produced by KOZMIC on the cover of their excellent CD TRANCEGLOBAL. (REAL 093 - write to: Surreal To Real, PO Box 33, Evesham, WR11 6UX) ííííííííééééééé ---------------------- éééééééíííííííí KOZMIC graphics have been used in a video shown on MTV (Belgian rock band). ííííííííééééééé ---------------------- éééééééíííííííí øøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøø LIMITATIONS OF THE UNREGISTERED VERSION There's only one. You may save only one screen per session. If you want to save more than one then you have two choices: Exit KOZMIC and restart it and try again (tedious business) or send me ten pounds for the all-singing, all-dancing, complete, updated version complete with example screens etc. øøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøø Thanks to the following people: Jane, my wife for putting up with the long hours programming. Steve Delaney of Floppyshop for encouraging me in the beginning. Evelyn Mills of Shareware Shopper for giving 5 stars to Kozmic 2. All you folks who sent me fivers for Kozmic 2. (This paid for my hard disk!) Chris Lloyd and all at ST Format for putting a «Meg version on their coverdisk. John Weller of STEN (the best diskzine around) for encouragement, inspiration and testing for bugs. Bill Smith of Toronto for pointing out a bug in Kozmic 2. Jos‚ Montalvo of Connecticut for pointing out a bug in a pre-release version of Kozmic 2«. Billy Allan and Colin Watt for the MISTY and MISSING LINK extensions for STOS. The Estonian Cultural Attache (aka Robbie The Pict) for making it possible for me to meet my hero, Robert Crumb. Tranceport for their unsolicited CD, Tranceglobal. øøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøø Technical Info: I started writing the program on my STFM (TOS 1.2) upgraded to 1 Meg RAM. This version was done using my STE (TOS 1.62) with 4 Meg RAM and Hard Disks. It was written entirely in STOS Basic, compiled, fixed for Mega ST(E)'s with STOSFX11 then packed with Pack Ice. STOS does not allow Drive Letters beyond H - HD users beware. The INF files are used for saving slide show information along with screens. I used this method because STOS doesn't save colour-cycling or duration information with NEO or PI1 files. Also palette-cycling or other info can be saved in the INF file. I prefer to save in NEO format because De Luxe Paint doesn't like STOS's PI1 format. By the way, Dpaint hangs after saving to HD, so save to floppy instead if you use it. All disks are copied with verify on. Should any disk be faulty please return it for a replacement. If you have 1 Megabyte of RAM then there may not be room for desk accessories of any size. Boot the disk (press reset) if necessary to clear any .ACCs or TSRs. This isn't a GEM program so you can't access DA's anyway... Quick ST is incompatible with Kozmic and will corrupt the main menu screen so it must be disabled before running the program. øøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøø Some info about yours truly.
